Vivian has been teaching seed beading, basic stringing, and pearl knotting since 1984. She is a professional knotter and worked for jewelry stores in Jacksonville, Florida where she is originally from. She owned a bead shop in Jacksonville for nine years where she taught classes and helped customers in bead design. She also was an officer in the Jacksonville Gem and Mineral Society where she taught classes in bead design. She also taught through the Jacksonville Community School System. She first came to William Holland School in 1986 to take classes and fell in love with the area. She relocated to Young Harris in April, 2006 and is teaching six to seven classes a year for the school. She is also teaching for the Federation from time to time. She loves teaching and likes to start each student at his/her own level of expertise. Samples of class projects are planned to hit everyone in the heart, whether a beginner or advanced student. And she plans the class to advance at the individual's own pace. Above all else, she wants each student to have fun and to learn something new! She is happy to share any and all information with the student and welcomes phone calls at any time. Vivian has opened a full service bead shop in her home.

CLASS DESCRIPTION

This class is for the beader who is not faint at heart. Someone wanting to try something she/he hasn't tried before. One project called "fearless beading" or free form is for the beader who wants to break all the rules and is not afraid to work without a pattern. This project will be worked around a crystal or mineral specimen and will be worn as a necklace. My motto here is the more beads the better. Embelishment is the name of the game. We will complete a bracelet loom project geared to increase your ability to work with charts/graphs. A Kumihimo bead weaving project will be thrown in for fun and relaxation. You'll be surprised to learn how really easy this is. Don't be afraid you can't work in this class. A working knowledge of peyote, herringbone and brick stitch is helpful, but not mandatory. We will complete beautiful pieces of jewelry while learning new ways to use old stitches and have fun doing it. Bead happy and come to our party!

LAB FEE: $25.00 lab fee includes first project, leather, felt, glue, pins and copies. You can bring your own materials or purchase from Vivian; she will have everything needed for class. Total cost of class is $25.00m - $150.00 depending on how much you purchase.

MAXIMUM CLASS SIZE: 8

Pre-requisite: Working knowledge of peyote, herringbone and brick stick helpful but not necessary.
