CLASS DESCRIPTION
Learn to assemble jewelry without
soldering with a focus on finishing and texturing techniques.
Students will learn a variety of methods of cold connections with
silver being the main metal used. We will also use copper and brass
as accents. Some techniques we will focus on are, etching and making
your own etching plate, using hand held corrugation tool, special
attention to producing a professional finish, use of a variety of
tools and various methods of applying patinas to the metals
A torch will be available for annealing
(preparing metal for texturing) and patination purposes (adding
color to copper.) Required project will be a panel bracelet. There
will be many other projects available to choose from and students
should be able to complete several pieces. The first day will focus
making your own etching plates, purchased texturing plates and many
other aspects of texture then beginning work on the panel bracelet.
