Bonita L Harris has been attending workshops with SFMS since the early 1990's and leads a local wire wrap workshop at the Mobile Rock and Gem Society, Mobile, Alabama. You may recognize her name from her junior rockhound workshop at the William Holland School in June or as youth resources for SFMS. However, she is comfortable working with all ages and particularly enjoys making jewelry with adults and juniors!

CLASS DESCRIPTION

Learn basic wirework techniques, such as straightening, bending, wrapping, and coiling copper, sterling silver, and gold-filled wire. Make loops, clasps, links, bails, and ear wires. Learn through step-by-step demonstrations of projects of different skill levels. Initial projects will include earrings, pendants, and a basic bracelet. Combine beads/stones with wire to create custom one-of-a-kind jewelry.

Kits with basic tools are available for class usage.

Come prepared to learn skills that could develop into a life long hobby. Be prepared to go home with a desire to extend your knowledge beyond the basics. Bonita's goal is to have her students outshine her!
