I first began jewelry making in a high school art class in 1971. My first piece was small enameled pendant. An engineering career got in the way of my jewelry making until I took a wire wrapping class offered by a guild in Oak Ridge TN in 1992. I have been wire wrapping /jewelry making every since that date. I have taught wire wrapping to small groups several times and have sold wire wrapped jewelry at craft fairs in my local area. I have attended several classes at William Holland and Wildacres over the years.

CLASS DESCRIPTION

This class will start by learning the fundamental skills and knowledge needed to be a wire wrap jewelry maker, such as measuring, wrapping, wire types, wire gauges, and tools use. Students will then put this new knowledge to use by making a beginning bracelet. Students may bring their own tool, but are not required to do so. Students may also bring their own cabochons, or beads to incorporate into their projects. The instructor will bring wire (sterling and 14k gold filled) for all projects, and cabochons and beads for students who don’t bring their own. After the basic skills are acquired the student may pick projects from examples brought by the instructor which include: 2 rings, 2 bracelets, 2 earrings, 2 pendants, and a chain. Near the end of the week students may also pick projects from a book.

If you have questions contact the instructor at gcjinc@comcast.net.
